Though there is one that works over Appletalk on the Mac, I guess (hadn't thought about that). You're either going to switch over to TCP/IP (easy) or totally rewrite the MUD driver (not so easy). -- Doug Renze, N0YVW * drenze@isca.uiowa.edu * N0YVW @ W0IUQ.ia.usa.na DRenze@aol.com "Boom...sooner or later...BOOM!" ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Sep 1994 13:53:57 GMT From: ihnp4.ucsd.edu!dog.ee.lbl.gov!agate!howland.reston.ans.net!torn!nott!cunews!freenet.carleton.ca!FreeNet.Carleton.CA!ae517@network.ucsd.edu Subject: EME digital link To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu In a previous article, elendir@enst.fr (Elendir) says: > Well, that's just a weird idea. > I was wondering about the possibility of setting up a 10 GHz/2 Mbauds EME >link between the US and Europe. > That'd be fantastic, wouldn't it ? In the early 60's the US military ran a 4 channel multiplexed RTTY link between Washington and Honolulu via EME for several years although for a 2 Mbaud data rate I think you'd need a bit better link margin than you mentioned. I'm surprised that it hasn't been done already. With the current decline in the solar cycle one system like this would probably be able to handle 80% or more of the transatlantic packet traffic. I can't speak for the MFH-12745C, but I have been using an MFJ-1278-T (multi-mode TNC)for about 2 years, and it's worked flawlessly. It came with a terrific 1.5" thick instruction manual detailing every aspect of operation, including installation instructions for several popular radios, as well as a complete guide to user alignment of the filters and modem. I've dragged my MFJ TNC into the woods camping dozens of times now, operating it and my VHF rig on batteries without a single failure or complaint. I love it. - 73 - Thom / N2CBV ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Sep 1994 08:33:36 From: ihnp4.ucsd.edu!library.ucla.edu!europa.eng.gtefsd.com!emory!nntp.msstate.edu!martin.cdpa.state.ms.us!martin@network.ucsd.edu Subject: UNIX to TNC setup To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu How do I define the TNC interface to SCO UNIX or Linux? Do I understand correctly that there are no further revisions planned? 2. If that is the case, does anyone know if the source code is available and, if so, where? 3. Is anyone else working on the problem? Thanks, & 73, Larry W1HJF ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- L. M.
